Filing a Claim on a Lost or Damaged Package

If You Purchased Additional Insurance through XCover

If you purchased additional insurance at the time your shipment was created through XCover, you can file a claim for lost or damaged shipments.

Damaged package claims must be reported no later than 30 days from the date the carrier marked the Parcel as delivered.

Lost package claims where the status is “not delivered”, must be reported no later than 30 days (60 days for international shipments) after the shipped date (carrier pick up).

Lost package claims where the status is marked by the carrier as “delivered” to the Delivery Address (but it has not been received by the customer), must be filed within 5 days from the date the carrier marked the Parcel as delivered Once the claim has been filed, all communication regarding the claim will come directly from XCover.

If You Did Not Purchase Additional Insurance and Used a Carrier Account Provided by XPS Ship

If you shipped using a service other than USPS such as FedEx or UPS that was provided by XPS Ship and you did not purchase additional insurance at the time your shipment was created, it may be covered by the limited liability coverage offered by the carrier. To file a claim for the limited liability if the parcel was damaged or lost please contact XPS Ship customer service at 1-800-881-0288

If You Did Not Purchase Additional Insurance and Used Your Own Carrier Account

If you shipped using a service other than USPS such as FedEx or UPS using your own account number and you did not purchase additional insurance at the time your shipment was created, it may be covered by the limited liability coverage offered by the carrier. Please refer to the carrier terms/conditions for specifics of carrier limited liability. To file a claim for the limited liability if the parcel was damaged or lost please contact the carrier service you used.

If You Did Not Purchase Additional Insurance and Used USPS

If you shipped using USPS and you did not purchase additional insurance at the time your shipment was created, it may be covered by the limited liability coverage offered by USPS. This only applies to the automatic insurance included for Domestic USPS Priority, Express,and Ground Advantage services.

Lost and damaged shipments will be automatically submitted if they meet the following criteria:

The Commodities section was completed with the product(s) Description and value at the time of creation.

The lost shipment does NOT have a tracking status of “Delivered” or an exception such as “Return To Sender”, “Insufficient Address”, Sent To Mail Recovery Center”, or “No Access to Delivery Location”, and it has been 60 days since the creation date.

The damaged shipment has an event status of “Visible Damage” shown in the Tracking Events from the shipment details screen.

All shipments MUST have a USPS possession scan to be submitted.

If You Purchased Additional USPS Insurance for Shipments

If you have previously contacted XPS Ship or enabled the setting to “Use Carrier Insurance Only” for USPS packages you will file your claim with USPS. If you purchased additional insurance at the time your shipment was created, you can file a claim if the parcel was damaged or lost. Visit: https://www.usps.com/help/claims.htm

If You Purchased Additional Insurance and Used Your Own Carrier Account

If you have previously contacted XPS Ship or enabled the setting to “Use Carrier Insurance Only”, shipped using a service other than USPS such as FedEx or UPS using your own account number and you purchased additional insurance at the time your shipment was created, to file a claim if the parcel was damaged or lost please contact the carrier service you used.
