An API Integration is a generic term that means a company has "endpoints", that an outside organization can use to pull or push information between them. The reason API's are used is to avoid having to open up the entire database to an outside organization (and the world); in addition, this allows a standard for passing information between organizations without having to learn the data structure from either side.
