USPS insurance is not available when creating USPS International First-Class shipments. If you have “Use Carrier Insurance Only” enabled in Other Settings, but would like to purchase insurance, you can do by following the steps below:
Select an international order (or enter the receiver’s address information).
Select USPS International First Class.
Enter the package details and notice that the Insure Amt field is grayed out.
The field is grayed out because USPS insurance is not available when creating USPS International First-Class shipments. However, you can purchase additional insurance through our third-party carrier XCover.Click the “!” icon next to the Insure Amt.
A popup notifies you that “Clicking 'Use Third Party Insurance' will allow you to add insurance coverage to this shipment as well as all shipments moving forward.”Click Use Third Party Insurance.
A confirmation message appears at the top of your page.
You can now enter an insurance amount and book your shipment.
Tip: Selecting Use Third Party Insurance, turns off the Use Carrier Insurance Only option. To use carrier insurance again, you must enable the option in Other Settings again.
Click the Settings tab.
Under Admin Settings select Other Settings.
Under Batch Tab and Ship Tab Options, reselect the checkbox to Use carrier insurance only.
Click Save Changes when finished.
