2FA Authentication Error: Verification code expired when adding phone number

If you previously added a phone number for your Two-Factor Authentication method but it it’s not verified and /or states “Verification code expired…”

Delete all previous text messages on your cell phone with verification codes from XPS Ship.

Click the Settings tab.

Under “User Settings” select “Security”.

Verify that the cell phone number that is displayed in the security settings is the cell phone number you have access to currently.

Select “Enter Verification Code”.

A box will pop up and say: "Verification code expired…” This is referring to the previously sent codes. You need to select “Re-send code”.

A box will show that a code was sent to the phone number. This will also indicate that the code expires in 5 minutes. Do not enter anything in this box yet.

Check your cell phone for the code that was sent.

Return to the browser tab with box stating that a verification code was sent to your number, enter the six digit number in the Verification Code field, then click “Verify”.

If it works it will display a green check under the “verified” column for that phone number.

If this does not work you will want to try the following.

Note: If you can successfully add and verify your additional 2FA method using incognito mode but were unable to add it when using your regular browser settings after clearing cookies and cached files, it could be related to additional settings, add-ons, or extensions on your browser / computer.

Because there are an endless amount of configurations and settings within each browser, including extensions and password managers, we are unable to pinpoint the exact cause.

However, the additional steps you can use to find the cause include:

  • Try a different browser.

  • Disable any popup, or cookie blockers in the browser.

  • Turn add blocker off.

  • Disable any malware or antivirus add-on’s that may be causing the issue.

  • Enter the verification code manually, do not copy & paste.

  • Run any required updates for the browser and the OS (Windows/Mac).

  • Rebooting the computer.
