Insurance Settings allows several options for you to automatically default insurance amounts for shipping. The steps below will go over the different options. To learn more about insurance visit the Help Center article: Purchasing Additional Insurance
Defaulting Insure Amount for Domestic and International Shipping on All Orders
Select the Settings tab.
Under “Admin Settings” select “Insurance settings”
Here you can select the Default Insure Amount for both Domestic and International shipping. In this example, the Default Domestic Insure Amount is set to $100 and the Default International Insure Amount is set to $200. This means that all orders being shipped using any domestic service would have a default insure the amount of $100 and $200 for international shipments regardless of item value.
Defaulting Insure Amount for Domestic and International Shipping on Orders Greater than or Equal to a Specific Amount
**These settings will only apply to eCommerce integrations or manually added orders from the batch screen. These settings will not apply to manual orders from the ship screen.
In this example, the Amount is set to $110 Which means that for all orders with a value greater or equal to $110 the default insurance amount will be the same as the order value. So if the order value was $175, the insurance amount would be $175. If the order value was $109, there would not be any default insure amount.
Using Both Options of Defaulting Insure Amount and Automatically Set Insurance Value
You can also set both option values. In the example below The default insure value is set to $50 and the Automatically set insurance value is set to $110. This means that all orders would have a default insure the amount of $50, unless the order value was $110 or greater, which would then default the insure value to equal the order value.
