Change the Billing Party for Duties when Shipping International

The Billing and Dutiable Party section allows you to specify who is responsible for paying shipping charges and duties on international shipments. You can bill the recipient or a third party instead of the sender for carriers that support this feature (UPS, FedEx, DHL).

Note: This section is only available for carriers that support third-party billing (UPS, FedEx, DHL).

Access Billing Settings

Click the Ship tab.

Select a pending shipment or enter your own information.



Select a service and enter your packaging information.

Select the Change Billing/Dutiable Party checkbox to show the billing options.

Configure Billing Settings

Select who will pay for shipping charges from the Billing Party dropdown (Sender, Recipient, or Third Party).

If you select Recipient or Third Party, enter the required account information:

  • Billing Account Number: The carrier account number to charge

  • Billing Account Zip (UPS only): Zip code for the billing account

  • Billing Account Country: (UPS only )Country where the billing account is registered

Select who will pay for customs duties from the Dutiable Party dropdown.

If needed, enter the Dutiable Account Number for the carrier account that will be charged for duty payments.

Important Information

Note: When you select a different order from the order list, the Billing and Dutiable Party section automatically collapses and any previously entered billing information is cleared. This prevents billing details from accidentally carrying over to different shipments. You must re-check the Change Billing/Dutiable Party checkbox and re-enter billing information for each new order.

Troubleshooting

Issue: Billing information disappeared when I selected a different order.

Resolution: This is expected behavior to prevent billing information from being applied to the wrong shipment. Re-check the Change Billing/Dutiable Party checkbox and re-enter the billing details for the new order.

Issue: The Change Billing/Dutiable Party section is not visible.

Resolution: This section only appears for carriers that support third-party billing (UPS, FedEx). Verify you have selected one of these carriers.
